Yesterday’s update to the Zubie app include numerous performance improvements and tweaks to the experience. But in particular, we want to note a great new feature that will be welcomed by car lovers everywhere. Yes, that means you. And unfortunately, we won’t be making any fans amongst rogue valets or joyriding teenagers. Remember the last time you handed your keys over to a valet trusting him with your baby? While you spent the next few hours picking at your steak and playing the valet scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day off in your head? The new Motion Monitor feature lets you hand over the keys, knowing that you will be alerted to any activity automatically.
Turn on the Motion Monitor when you leave your car keys with someone else, or at home. It is accessed from the vehicle status display. Indicate the duration for which you want it to be active, and then rest assured that you’ll be the first to know when anything happens. At this time, you will be notified any time the engine is started. And in upcoming iterations, this will include other alerts such as hard acceleration and braking, driving outside of the immediate vicinity or speeds in excess of 45 MPH.
The Motion Monitor also lets you leave your car at home without worrying about your teenager or his friends taking it out for a joyride. Of course, that would never happen- but consider this just a precautionary measure. One last thing you do find that your valet was re-enacting scenes from Grand Theft Auto, and you decide against better judgement to stage a confrontation, you are on your own. We can’t help you there.
