Zubie Telematics FAQ

01

At its simplest, a telematics system is a platform of services that collect and use vehicle data to achieve any number of tasks, including GPS tracking, vehicle optimization, and driver behavior reporting. Today’s fleet telematics technology has evolved from simple vehicle location information to a network of data that provides constantly updated information about both the vehicle and its operator. Real time updates are sent using a high-speed wireless network or cellular connection.

02

Telematics systems use a tracking device – installed in a vehicle – that sends, receives and stores data. It connects via the vehicle’s own onboard diagnostics (OBDII) with a SIM card. An onboard modem enables communication through a wireless network.

The device collects GPS data along with an array of other vehicle-specific telematics data and transmits it via a 4G mobile data and cellular network centralized server. The server interprets the data and enables you to access it via secure websites and apps optimized for smartphones and tablets.

03

The telematics data captured can include location, speed, idling time, harsh acceleration or braking, fuel consumption, utilization, vehicle maintenance, and more. When analyzed, this information provides in-depth insights across your entire fleet.

04

09

A GPS system and telematics are not competing technologies. Instead, GPS is a vital part of a telematics solution. GPS on its own can provide the precise location of fleet vehicles, but telematics takes the GPS tracking data, and converts it into usable information that is visible in fleet management software. Track, analyze and improve your vehicle routing in one place.
